Children’s & Young People's Counselling in Malvern, Worcester – Face-to-Face Support for Emotional Wellbeing and Grief

As a specialist in children's emotional support, with decades of expertise and experience in working with children,  I am pleased to offer individual grief counselling to children and young people as well as the work I do to support them with anxiety and phobias.  Fees are £60 per session. I have only one space left on a Monday at 4:15 (as of March 2025)

The Benefits of Counselling for Children

Grief, loss, change, phobias, bulling happens to children too.  The impact of these significant life events are often particularly overwhelming for children and can affect their ability to cope at school, build friendships, or enjoy daily life. I am here to support your child or teen.

Grief counselling or working with fear and phobias, loss or change can help children and young people to:

  • Understand and process their feelings: I can help your child to learn healthy ways to understand and express their emotions.

  • Build resilience and confidence: I can support your child to learn simple problem solving skills which will build their resilience and coping strategies.

  • Improve relationships: I can help children communicate better with family and friends about their loss or challenges, strengthening their relationships and reducing feelings of isolation.

  • I can teach them techniques to regulate their fears, phobias, overwhelm or grief.

How I Support Children

In my sessions, I create a warm, supportive space for children to feel heard and understood. I use a variety of creative and interactive methods to help children engage, including creative activities like story, puppets, art as well as teaching regulation strategies suitable for children if needed (such as using EFT and mindfulness for children) and of course talking about their experiences, their loss, allowing questions and explaining things in appropriate ways.  Where appropriate I use CBT approaches and work with phobias to help reduce anxiety.

Why Choose Me?

I have worked with children and young people for 30 years prior to retraining as a counsellor. Many of my roles involved offering specialist advice and support to children, families, school staff and even head teachers on supporting young people with emotional difficulties.  I understand that every child is unique, and I adapt my methods to suit their needs. I aim to provide long-lasting emotional benefits that can help your child thrive. I am compassionate and approachable. Children also love my two little dogs who will happily join the session if welcomed and permitted by yourself and your child.  I only work face to face with children, with a guardian on site in the next room.
